Parasols & Shade Sails

Cantilever (offset) parasols are the most versatile — they tilt and rotate to follow the sun without a centre pole blocking your table. Choose a model with a minimum 50 kg base for wind stability. For commercial or exposed terraces, we recommend wind-vented canopies that release pressure during gusts.

For a 4-person dining table, choose a 2.5-3m parasol. For a 6-8 person table or lounge area, go for 3.5-4m. Rectangular parasols cover more usable space than round ones. On the Costa del Sol, we recommend oversized parasols — the midday sun is almost directly overhead in summer.

Quality parasols with UPF 50+ fabric block over 98% of UV radiation. This is essential on the Costa del Sol where the UV index reaches 9-10+ in summer. Look for solution-dyed acrylic fabric — it resists fading and maintains UV protection far longer than polyester.

Use a weighted base of at least 50 kg (granite or water-filled). For cantilever parasols, 80-100 kg is safer. On tiled terraces, bolt-down plate adapters offer the most stability. Always close your parasol when not in use — sudden gusts are common along the coast.
